It took a while to build up a story, which could have done a lot more with its context of dismissing the change of the child's behaviour because of the psychological pressures in dealing with her parents' divorce, but this never really quite took off. Instead, the focus was on building atmospherics through the use of creepy crawlies, and he succeeded to an extent in doing that. Credit must be given when credit is due, so Danish director Ole Bornedal did what he could in avoiding the usual clichés of slamming doors and jump scares. And for those who object her bout of violent behaviour, especially when becoming possessive and protective of the mysterious box, even stranger things happen, and her unusual behaviour soon triggers Clyde to do some sleuthing of his own. Make up also helped to make her look her zombie best, coupled with fans borrowed from a Bollywood studio to let her hair fly around when the air around is still. Em becomes possessed and Natasha Calis almost got a chance to be the next Linda Blair in The Exorcist, except that The Possession minus all the kinky moves that would make parents frown and grown ups blush. Opening Pandora's Box is also something nobody should do, and when done, welcomes a whole lot of trouble. Warning lights are probably flashing now, since stories of old have already warned never to pick up strange looking objects from anywhere and bringing them home. As part of moving in, they pick up extra dishes at someone's backyard jumble sale, and Em gets attracted to a mysterious box, which gets bought and brought home. The arrangements seem pretty well oiled, with Clyde having moved to another house of his own conveniently located in a new neighbourhood. It introduced the characters of a dysfunctional family, where Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has already divorced from wife Stephanie (Kyra Sedgwick), with the former getting only the weekends to spend time with daughters Hannah (Madison Davenport) and Em (Natasha Calis). So is it any good, given that the trailer essentially told the entire story from beginning to end? It got better as it moved along, and really tested your patience in the first half of the film since it really took a long time before a turn of events leading to the first boo. Still, for the curious, you may want to look up an article called Jinx in a Box written by Leslie Gornstein, which the events in this film is purportedly based on. Moreover, having to state the events took place in less than a month, seemed a little bit far fetched, given how the screenplay played things out, which made it look like months instead. I'm a little bit wary when a horror film touts itself as based on a true story, because one can only take that with a pinch of salt, given that it's a film after all, and there's a need to dress it up for the silver screen and for dramatic purposes.

A rotary sweeper brushes the needles into a pile. Collection systems struggle to pick them up. If leaves collect on your drive, a rotary sweeper can gather them for later pickup by a pull/tow-behind collection system. If your drive is near a slope, and debris gathers after a rain, a rotary sweeper is an effective and effortless way to clean it up. What can a tractor-driven rotary sweeper be used for? Many rotary sweepers have gauge wheels which also help reattaching. A storage stand makes reattaching much easier. Rotary sweepers are heavy, weighing a few hundred pounds or more. This would make them prone to tipping over and flattening the bristles. Without a stand, the rotary sweeper would rest on the soft bristles. On larger tractors, water dispensing systems might be part of the package to hold down dust. Others, such as found on subcompact and compact tractors, may have hydraulic angling systems. Some setups use a manual crank to change the angle. On a smaller lawn tractor, changing angle might be accomplished by the operator simply getting off the tractor, pulling a pin, and manually changing the angle. It allows the operator to direct the debris to the sides. Many tractors will require suitcase weights, ballast box, or an appropriate rear implement to maintain friction and keep adverse loads off the tractor.Īngling a rotary sweeper adds versatility. You can mount a rotary sweeper to a three-point hitch (3PH), tractor loader boom, and/or tractor-specific, specialty mounts or quick hitches. Some rotary sweepers have a reverse broom rotation, which makes it easy to use against a building, while the tractor backs up and “pulls.” Most rotary sweepers, when observed from the right side, will rotate clockwise (counterclockwise when viewed from the left). They can be powered by the tractor engine/transmission using a belt-driven or chain-driven gearbox - a hydraulic mower powered off the tractor hydraulic system - a driveshaft from the transaxle / transmission - or from a separate pump, powered by the tractor power take-off (PTO). Rotary sweepers, used with tractors, can be powered in many ways. We are going to focus on rotary sweepers used with tractors. There are street sweepers, walk-behind sidewalk sweepers, and those that are powered by an ATV, UTV, or a tractor. Rotary sweepers have been around for a long time.Īs of this writing, many types of sweepers and brooms are on the market. For this reason, we always recommend purchasing the rear-mount Water Tank and a spray bar kit with a sweeper. We want to help you understand everything you need to know about rotary sweepers. This is particularly a concern in urban areas where the dust cloud can create a hazard for nearby pedestrians. For customers that require a very narrow sweeper due to a narrow bridge or other measurement restriction, a 36-inch or 48-inch model sweeper can be made to order.Īs with any sweeping operation, airborne dust can be problematic. Also available are 72-inch, 84-inch and 96-inch models for use in parking lots or other large areas. Our standard 60-inch angle sweeper is ideal for use on sidewalks which, when angled, results in a 48-inch to 50-inch sweeping pattern. Colour coded quick couplers and integrated storage stands contribute to the attachments ease of use. The scissor frame is designed to automatically center the sweeping pattern in front of the tractor as the broom is angled. The high output hydraulics of the Trackless MT directly drives the broom head while a relief valve protects the core from twisting in overload conditions. The sweeper core is composed of replaceable poly and wire bristles which are safe to use on cobblestone, inlaid brick walkways or other delicate surfaces such as detectable warning surfaces or tactile sidewalks. In addition to sweeping sand, gravel or other debris from sidewalks, parking lots, cul de sacs, intersections or other confined areas, the sweeper can also be used to dethatch large lawns and playing fields in the summer or remove snow from sidewalks in the winter. The Power Angle Sweeper can be used to perform a wide variety of tasks every month of the year making it one of the most cost-effective and versatile attachments to own. “It’s been revealed that Freedom Planet 2 is going to feature hubworlds! What can fans expect those to be like?” Strife: Hub areas are something I actually wanted to do in the first game, but I quickly realized it would be too ambitious and that there wasn’t enough side content in the game to justify their existence. While there are some things in Unity that required painful workarounds when they were a snap in MMF2 (like pixel perfect rendering), I don’t regret making the switch at all. Fortunately my experience with general code syntax from college, as well as some guidance from Christian (he even rearranged the default Unity to layout to better resemble Multimedia Fusion), I was surprised how quickly I got used to it, and I really appreciate the edge it has over MMF2 in almost every way but especially with performance and object handling, two of the biggest issues I struggled with in FP1. I felt pretty lost when I started working with the new engine in Unity. I’ve been working with Clickteam tools for over 17 years (I started when I was 11) and I’ve completely gotten used to its quirks and the way it does things under the hood. Did you run into any difficulties with that? Has it been easier that MF or a bit of an adjustment? What exactly do you feel makes Unity better than Multimedia Fusion?” Strife : There was definitely some heavy adjustments on my end. While I’d recommend playing the two games in order, if you only have time for one speedy 2D platformer this year, this is the one you want.“So from the first game, you guys made the transition from Multimedia Fusion to Unity. There’s also a couple boss fights that are a bit weaker than the rest, but two or three mediocre fights out of around forty is still a fantastic batting average.įreedom Planet 2 is already one of my favorite games of 2022. While usually fine, when the camera zooms out to show larger areas or keep up with a speeding player, things get a bit rough and pixely. While FP2 nicely supports high refresh monitors (great for a fast-moving game like this), it renders at an intentionally low resolution to maintain its Saturn-esque aesthetic. My first run through FP2 took a solid eight hours, and there are three other characters with their own gameplay mechanics, cutscenes and dialogue I still want to play with. I know that sounds dicey for a platformer inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog but it somehow sticks the landing. Despite its cartoon energy, the story tackles some heavy topics, including the long-lasting fallout of colonialism and the erasure of indigenous cultures. Picking up several years after the first game, FP2 blends a mixture of anime tropes, western Saturday morning cartoon dialogue and voicework, and an interesting mix of Chinese and Philippine culture, myth and design. That’s all fixed here, and they’ve roped in some familiar anime talent, including Chris Sabat (Vegeta and Piccolo from Dragon Ball Z’s dub) who delivers a great performance as burly brawler Askal-a performance aided by some cheeky Dragon Ball-esque sound effects.Įven Freedom Planet 2’s setting feels heartfelt and rich. Freedom Planet could get wrapped up in itself, leaving cutscenes running overlong, and some of the cast clearly had better recording equipment than others. You can feel it in the writing and voice work, too. These are the kind of details that only come from a truly passionate development team. Every NPC has a distinct sprite animated as cleanly as any of the main cast, too. Between levels, there’s a world map to wander with multiple towns, packed with interesting characters that have new things to say after every major plot beat. Every level is visually and mechanically distinct, often with a shift in aesthetic around the mid-way point. It’s easy to see how this took seven years to create. Fast platforming, slow-cooked to perfection While the vanilla experience is excellently tuned, you’re invited to tweak those dials if you feel the need. Or you can start each stage with powerups, bonus lives, or extra powers like health-leeching attacks. Want to race against the dev’s par times or clear stages with a single hit point? Do it. On top of difficulty settings and a range of accessibility options, there are unlockable items that can greatly reduce or increase difficulty in interesting ways. It’s liberating stuff, and missing a jump can easily be recovered from in style, making FP2 a very forgiving game It wants you to have fun on your own terms. Note that some don’t correspond to the number of positions, I’ve added a few examples of these to show how to work out the needed part number. Numbers in bold can be changed to order connectors with a different number of positions. Spring tension is rated for 1000 mating cycles. In practice these should have been labelled “low”, “medium” and “high” as the “standard” type is not standard at all, it is actually a specialty contact which only makes sense in connectors with large numbers of positions. I use “Ultra-high” types (48257-000LF) as it is rare that I build anything requiring more than 6-8 positions in one connector, and the higher disconnection force eliminates the need for latching. The most interesting feature is variable spring tension. The Mini-PV family features a dazzling array of different contact types ( original catalogue). On this page I have summarised the parts which may be of interest to hobbyists who aren’t on a tight budget. I found Amphenol ICC’s website quite difficult to navigate, with catalogues incomplete, publicly available datasheets and documentation at best sporadic, and virtually non-existent for tooling. In subsequent decades its design as been copied and altered by other parties. The original Mini-PV family is still manufactured today by Amphenol in the USA, but is a fairly premium product which is not marketed for hobbyist use, and is priced accordingly, as one would expect for a product which has been produced by Uncle Sam to same specification for more than 70 years. As the heading suggests it has changed hands a few times since then. Its contact measures 1.25mm square and features an elaborate bi-metallic design with a brass contact body and a beryllium alloy spring. Mini-PV was the first 0.1″ (2.54mm pitch) design of this type likely introduced in the 1950s by Berg Connectors which appears to have spent much of its life as a division of E. The white strip on the right is a set of snap-off blanking plugs. However, in the 1800s, the craft became known as origami. I couldn’t find 8cmx8cm (or 3.1 inches) origami paper like Jo suggests. Fun Fact Origami was initially known as orikata, which means folded shapes. Here is the how-to video by the creator of the origami slinky, Jo Nakashima! Sorry I went a bit overboard with the number of photos in this post… I had too much fun taking the pictures! If you’re going to put a lot of effort into something, you don’t want it to fall apart right away! My kids have been playing a little rough with this slinky so I am very glad I reinforced it with tape. One piece of advice I have is to tape all the pieces together as you go (using just a little bit of tape). Fold the square part of the current pattern in half and align its open side with the bottom side of the triangle. These are the front legs of the paper frog. Fold up the top layers (flaps on both sides of the triangle part) diagonally. It would be the perfect activity for an airplane flight, or a great cure for summer boredom. Flatten the triangle side, this will be the front side of the origami frog. It took me about 2 hours to complete my slinky (while watching a movie with the kids), and mine used 64 pieces of origami. BUT you have to fold 50+ pieces of paper so it takes quite a bit of patience. The instructions for this slinky are pretty simple (video at the end of this post). I’ve made a lot of things out of origami in my lifetime, but I have never made something as fun as this! I was inspired by Kozue of Kozue’s Show and Tell) to make a slinky out of origami paper (折り紙スリンキー).

Can I do anything to stop cyber-squatting?Īt present, there are no specific anti cyber-squatting laws in the UK. This practice is known as cyber-squatting – registering and using domain names in bad faith. The reality is that many individuals buy internet domain names containing the name of a specific company with the aim of selling it to that company to make a significant profit. co.uk (and similar), but the business name itself can be registered. As mentioned above, the IPO may well not accept trade mark applications containing. There is greater potential for infringement or misuse of company names in particular, because of the nature of internet domain names. Is there anything I should be aware of when deciding to register my company name as a trade mark? So if your trade mark is registered, it will be much easier and quicker to take legal action against an infringer than relying on a passing off claim. In many cases, a huge amount of evidence is required to demonstrate each of the three elements required to bring a successful claim. If I can make a passing off, does this mean I don’t need to register my mark?Īlthough you can make a claim for passing off for your unregistered trade mark, it can be difficult and potentially expensive to prove. That your goodwill or reputation has been harmed in some way by the other person using your mark. That you have built up a reputation in the mark, and.To be successful in a claim for passing off, you must prove: Passing off claims How do you prove ‘passing off’? This is done through a passing off action. The trade mark owner can take formal legal action if someone else uses their mark without their permission. Your trade mark does not have to be registered (and in some cases, an application may be refused), but you can still take steps to stop someone from infringing your unregistered trade mark. What protection does the law provide for unregistered trade marks? Formal registration of your mark is, therefore, imperative. There is limited common law protection (‘passing off’), but it is relatively difficult to succeed in a passing off claim. If a business does not formally register its trade mark, then it may be exposed to the potential misuse by another business of its trade mark, whether that is the company name, logo, strapline, or design. However, registration is by no means automatically granted by the IPO. Should I register my company name as a trade mark?Īn individual business should always register its trade mark name as a trade mark if it is serious about getting the best protection against infringers. The IPO may accept made up words as trade marks, but it may not accept misspelled words such as ‘fone’ instead of telephone. In addition, trade marks which are offensive, illegal or deceptive will be refused. The IPO will refuse to consider trade marks that are not deemed capable of functioning as a mark those that are not sufficiently distinctive those that are similar to existing trade marks or marks that have become customary in your line of business. This provides legal protection in the UK for that mark against any other company or person using that trade mark, as registration essentially guarantees the identity of the origin of the goods or services without possibility of confusion to consumers. Under UK law, a trade mark can be registered with the UK trademark and Intellectual Property Office (IPO). However, if the trade mark has been registered, it is easier to win a claim for trade mark infringement than if it is not. You can stop someone using the same, or a similar, trade mark whether or not it is formally registered. Unregistered Trade Marks What is a trade mark?Ī trade mark is a sign or logo, design, or even a word phrase, that distinguishes the goods or services of a business from those of its competitors.
